From Bond Trader to Brewer: The Redemption Journey
Redemption Brewing was born out of a desire to do something more meaningful, tangible, and rewarding. Founder Andy Moffat started his career in the fast-paced world of bond trading, but as the financial crisis loomed, he realized he was chasing numbers instead of passion. A devoted home brewer at heart, Andy took a leap of faith—leaving behind the corporate world to pursue his dream of starting a brewery.
In 2010, with a second-hand 12-barrel brewing kit and an unstoppable drive, Redemption Brewing Co. was established. The early days were challenging—long hours, small-scale operations, and a competitive market—but Andy’s determination never wavered. He knew North London needed a fresh approach to beer, and that’s exactly what Redemption set out to deliver.
What started as a small but mighty brewing operation quickly gained momentum. As demand grew, so did the brewery. In 2015, Redemption expanded into a larger facility, upgrading to a 30-barrel brewhouse with enhanced flexibility and efficiency. Over the years, Redemption has earned multiple SIBA Gold Medal awards and the John Young Memorial Award for its dedication to brewing high-quality, independent craft beer.
Beyond its award-winning beers, Redemption has built a reputation as a breeding ground for future brewing talent, mentoring passionate brewers who have gone on to launch their own successful ventures.
